§ 7.0 — COMMON QUERIES

Most-asked, on the phone.

How soon can a welder be out to my place in Dublin?

For the north and inner city we'll usually be with you the next morning if you ring before noon. Finglas, Ballymun, Coolock — ten to twenty minutes from the workshop, often same-day if the diary has a gap. Southside (Sandyford, Tallaght) we batch into a half-day run on Tuesdays and Thursdays unless it's a fire-escape or a gate that genuinely won't close.

Are you certified for structural work?

Yes. We hold EN 1090 EXC2 execution-class certification — the European standard required for any structural steelwork that's CE-marked. That covers beam splices, lintel reinforcement, RSJ retrofits and any load-bearing weld. Liam is City & Guilds 6160 qualified on MIG, MMA and TIG. For anything load-bearing we work to a structural engineer's spec — usually IStructE-chartered.

Can you weld stainless and aluminium?

Yes, both. Dedicated TIG bay at the workshop with separate brushes and grinding stones — you cannot share consumables between mild steel and stainless without contaminating the seam. Food-grade commercial-kitchen welding, decorative balustrade, aluminium gate frames, brewery vessel repairs — all from €110 per hour at the workshop, plus consumables.

Is there a guarantee on the work?

Twelve-month workmanship guarantee on every weld we put down. If a seam cracks or a joint pulls inside the year, we're back out at no charge to put it right. Material defects from the steel mill are covered by the supplier's own warranty. Powder-coating cosmetic warranties sit with the coater — usually two years on a typical RAL.
